DJ's Diner > Out of Business 3/26/00
It was located next to the Wilco Truck Stop off exit 133 of I-40 near Conover. D.J.’S Diner, co-owned by
Dale Jarrett closed on Sunday March 26th, 2000. Jim Gaither, spokesman for Dale and his partners,
said this was painful decision for the owners.They held off for months, before doing this but the 3-year
old dinerwas not able to make a profit. Dale praised the work of the 16 employees and the restaurant’s
management company,The Diner Co. Mr. Gaither went on to say the sparsely populated location
wasn’t able to generate the traffic the partners had hoped. The diner and the land were sold.
